Sardine

i am an imaginary fish
         swaddled under
                        covers
                     blankets
                 and sheets

i beat my fins
gently
against them
like a waking child

                                 i hum bubbles
                                   and lull myself
                                     back into the
                                       placid
                                         currents
                                           of sleep
